Amman Municipality: 3 Companies to Handle Waste Collection and Transportation in Amman in a Pilot Phase

Mohammad Al-Faouri, Deputy Director of City Affairs for Regional Affairs at Amman Municipality, said on Sunday that the tender for waste collection and transportation in Amman has been referred to 3 companies, and they are now in a pilot and transitional phase to evaluate their performance, noting that the pilot phase began on April 1 and extends for 6 months.

Al-Faouri added that waste collection and transportation services were transferred in 14 areas under the Greater Amman Municipality, 12 of which were collection and transportation, and 2 areas were initial collection only, by picking up waste on roads and sidewalks.

He explained that Amman Municipality provided the companies operating in the field with 150 waste collection vehicles for use until the companies' own vehicles arrive, noting that the companies' vehicle fleet has begun to arrive in some areas.

He confirmed that the role of Amman Vision Company is to monitor the performance of the companies, pointing out that a number of observations have been recorded on the companies' work, and efforts are being made to correct them.
