Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in an interview today, Wednesday, that it was "painful" when US President Donald Trump sided with the other party in the ongoing war between Ukraine and Russia, after he said that Zelenskyy should be replaced.
Zelenskyy told the Piers Morgan Uncensored program, "It is painful that President Trump chose one side... not our side."
He also said he would not mind if Trump were in the middle between Ukraine and Russia, but added, "If you are in the middle, you have to stay in the middle."
When asked if he felt betrayed by Trump, who called earlier this week for a new president for Ukraine after agreeing to lift sanctions on Russian diesel exports, Zelenskyy replied, "Really, yes... but it is a little more complicated than just my emotions or feelings."
He added, "It is unfortunate that we are losing a strong partner."
Zelenskyy also said, "We do not sell our country... it is not about business for us, it is simply our lives, and this is our country."
