Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Monday that the decisions taken by the United States regarding the war in Ukraine, including delays in arms shipments and restrictions imposed on intelligence sharing, are "difficult to explain."
Zelenskyy said in a meeting with a US Congressional delegation, "Because it all comes down to (Russian President Vladimir) Putin's refusal to end this war, and to decisions from the American side that are difficult to explain between friends."
Zelenskyy added that Ukraine has not received full explanations regarding the restrictions imposed on the use of the Starshield system, which is necessary for carrying out certain drone strikes and countering Russian attacks, especially those launched by high-speed jet drones.
In remarks posted in a video clip on the Telegram app, the Ukrainian president said that his country had not received advance warnings about attacks on three occasions over the past week, which is something its partners usually provide.
He said, "We also know that the Pentagon (US Department of Defense), unfortunately, is delaying the delivery of missiles that our partners have already paid for through the Ukraine Priority Requirements List program."
He added that, to his knowledge, there is one missile shipment awaiting the signature of US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth.
He said, "All of this indicates that some political decision has been made to slow down the pace of support provided to us."
Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine is prepared to halt attacks on Russian oil refineries, as requested by US President Donald Trump, for 30 days, provided that Washington supplies Kyiv with interceptor missiles for the Patriot missile defense system.
