Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Monday that over 8,000 North Korean soldiers are currently on Russian territory, indicating preparations to deploy an additional 10,000 soldiers.
Zelensky explained in a post on the platform 'X' that Kyiv has 'new data' regarding the deployment of North Korean forces in Russia, and that soldiers are being selected for training in preparation for their deployment.
In August, the Ukrainian President said that up to 50,000 North Korean soldiers might be sent to fight alongside Russian forces, calling on South Korea to provide his country with air defense support.
According to Ukrainian and South Korean estimates, Pyongyang has sent between 14,000 and 15,000 soldiers to support Russia since 2024, most of whom have been deployed in the Kursk region.
Kyiv also accuses Pyongyang of supplying Moscow with millions of artillery shells and mortars, as well as ballistic missiles, long-range artillery systems, and rocket launchers.
