Hebrew Media: Washington Prepares to Send Troops and Aircraft to Israel in Weeks

The Hebrew website " Walla " said on Sunday that the United States is preparing to send additional troops and aircraft to Israel in the coming weeks, as part of preparations for a possible escalation in the Middle East.

The website, citing unnamed security sources, said that the US military currently has about 3,000 soldiers deployed across Israel, whose tasks include operating air defense systems, in addition to pilots, support crews, logistical forces and elements working in military headquarters.

It added that the US military is conducting a routine force rotation over the past few weeks in conjunction with the end of deployments of units in the region.

It pointed out, at the same time, that additional troops and aircraft are scheduled to arrive in the coming weeks "as part of preparations for escalation in the Middle East".

This comes amid the United States strengthening its military presence in the region, as reports in recent days indicated the dispatch of additional reinforcements to the Middle East, including troops and naval vessels, amid escalating tensions with Iran.

" Walla " quoted a senior Israeli security official, who was not named, as saying that "Israel's enemies are not ignoring the elections in Israel and the United States, and are studying whether they will try to influence them and how, by carrying out attacks aimed at destabilizing the situation without causing a wide escalation".

The official claimed that they "realize that the Israeli response this time will be very aggressive".

According to the website, the Israeli military continues its preparations for the possibility of a new confrontation with Iran or a rapid deterioration of the situation, amid ongoing tension between Tehran and Washington.

It added that part of these preparations focuses on the nature of the operations that Israel may resort to in the event of a wide-scale confrontation, and the targets that can be attacked inside Iran.

It pointed to the continued close military coordination between Israel and the US Central Command "CENTCOM", as part of preparations for scenarios that include possible Iranian missile attacks.

The United States had strengthened its military presence and equipment in Israel over the past months in preparation for possible escalation with Iran, including the deployment of additional aircraft and ground crews and the reinforcement of air defense systems.

These developments come following statements by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, who said that his country is "ready to pursue the diplomatic path to reach a fair solution".

This came during his meeting with foreign ambassadors and diplomatic representatives in the capital Tehran, according to the official Iranian news agency "IRNA", on Sunday.

Iran had presented during meetings on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in late September, 7 conditions to Washington with Qatari mediation regarding the opening of the Strait of Hormuz.

However, US President Donald Trump announced that the United States had not agreed to the Iranian conditions.

In a related context, " Walla " said that Israeli military officials believe that the confrontation with the Houthi group in Yemen could affect broader regional alliances and understandings.

It added that Israeli estimates link this to the rapprochement between Saudi Arabia and the UAE in the face of the Houthis, and the possibility of any regional understandings affecting other files, including Lebanon and Iranian influence in it.

The website quoted a senior Israeli security official as saying that there is a belief that "those who do not join the confrontation against the Houthis now will remain alone and will receive their blows accordingly".

In September, the pace of fighting between government forces and the Houthi group accelerated, resulting in the Houthis' control of vital centers in the provinces of Hodeidah and Taiz, including the strategic city of Al-Mukhah, up to Mayun Island overlooking the Bab al-Mandeb Strait.

Yemen has been witnessing a war since the Houthis took control of the capital Sanaa and several provinces in September 2014, before the intervention of an Arab coalition led by neighboring Saudi Arabia in March 2015 in support of the internationally recognized Yemeni government.
