Zarqa: Diversifying Destinations and Enhancing the Tourism Experience

The total number of tourist participations for Zarqa Governorate under the "Our Jordan is a Paradise" program, implemented by the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and the Jordan Tourism Board, reached approximately 20,000 participations between March 31 and October 24, 2026.

According to the Ministry's spokesperson, Dr. Ahmed Al-Rifai, this figure includes participants arriving from various governorates of the Kingdom to visit tourist and archaeological sites in Zarqa, in addition to residents of the governorate who participated in trips departing from Zarqa to tourist destinations in other parts of the Kingdom.

Al-Rifai added that 18 tourism agencies benefited from the program in organizing trips to the governorate, along with the participation of two restaurants. Additionally, 92 tour guides and buses participated in the program, supporting the organization of trips and providing an integrated tourism experience for participants.

He pointed out that Zarqa Governorate is distinguished by the diversity of its tourist and historical sites, including the Azraq area and the desert castles, which form an important part of the Jordanian cultural heritage, alongside nature reserves that offer diverse tourism experiences. Including these destinations in the program's routes contributes to raising awareness of the governorate's assets, stimulating tourism activity, and expanding opportunities for local communities to benefit from tourism activity.
