Yemeni Army: 950 Houthi elements neutralized in 1,879 targeting operations

The Yemeni Army announced on Monday the neutralization of about 950 Houthis in 1,879 "precise and direct" targeting operations over the past hours.

This came in a statement issued by the Yemeni Army military spokesman, Majed Al-Nuzaili, which he published on his account on the American "X" platform, while there was no immediate comment from the Houthi group.

Al-Nuzaili said: "As part of the offensive actions of the 'Dawn of Yemen' operation, our armed forces carried out 1,879 precise and direct targeting operations against legitimate military targets belonging to the terrorist Houthi militia, using warplanes, drones, field artillery, rocket launchers, and sniper units."

He added that "the operations targeted the enemy's combat system, including fortifications and defensive positions, command and control centers, artillery and rocket launcher emplacements, observation and reconnaissance points, mobilization and reinforcement areas, weapons and ammunition depots, and vehicles and transport and supply assets."

The statement indicated that "in Taiz (southwest), airstrikes crushed the militia's reinforcements and convoys sent to the fronts, dispersed their gatherings, and disrupted their attempts to support their positions and reorganize their forces."

These operations resulted, according to the statement, "in the neutralization of about 950 militia elements, and the destruction and disabling of 380 military vehicles and assets, in addition to silencing enemy fire sources and disrupting the command, control, and supply system," over the past hours.

The statement noted that the targeting operations "were carried out in accordance with the rules of international humanitarian law, and in a manner that respects the principles of distinction and proportionality and takes the necessary precautions to protect civilians and civilian objects."

It pointed out that, concurrently, "military engineering units continued to clear the recaptured sites and areas of mines and improvised explosive devices, securing them for the forces and the return of citizens."

The "Dawn of Yemen" military operation continues on Monday for the eighth day, which the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, Rashad Al-Alimi, said aims to restore state institutions and regain control of the capital, Sanaa.

These developments are part of a military escalation that began last July, the broadest since the relative calm Yemen witnessed thanks to a truce that began in April 2022.

Yemen has been witnessing a war since the Houthis took control of the capital, Sanaa, and several governorates in September 2014, before an Arab coalition led by Saudi Arabia intervened in March 2015 in support of the legitimate Yemeni government.
