Yemen: Houthis targeted in 1,326 operations, 370 neutralized

The Yemeni Army announced on Sunday that it had carried out 1,326 precision targeting operations against the Houthi group and neutralized 370 of its members over the past 24 hours, in addition to recapturing several sites and seizing heavy weapons and military equipment in Taiz Governorate, in the southwest of the country.

The army stated that its forces, as part of the "Dawn of Yemen" operation, had carried out 1,326 precision targeting operations against gatherings of the Iranian-backed Houthi terrorist militia, as well as their vehicles, fortifications, and fire sources over the past 24 hours, according to the official news agency "Saba".

The spokesperson for the Yemeni Armed Forces, Colonel Staff Majed Al-Nuzaili, added in the statement that the forces had expanded the scope of their offensive operations as part of the "Dawn of Yemen" operation, which, according to initial counts, resulted in the neutralization of about 370 militia members and the destruction and disabling of dozens of military vehicles and assets.

"Neutralization" is a military term meaning to remove personnel from the combat zone, either by killing or wounding them.

Al-Nuzaili explained that the armed forces on the Marib front, in the northeast of the country, "capitalized on the results of the preparatory fire and advanced their offensive toward the designated targets, while warplanes and drones continued to support the axes of advance along the front by striking the militia's movements, reinforcements, and firing positions, and clearing the way for assault units."

He pointed out that the field progress, combined with coordinated operational pressure on the southern and western fronts, resulted in "restricting the militia's ability to maneuver and move reserves, and preventing them from reorganizing their combat echelons between the axes."

In Taiz, Al-Nuzaili announced that army forces, supported by the Popular Resistance, "seized a number of sites and recovered heavy weapons and military equipment, concurrently with striking the militia's reinforcements and dismantling their defensive positions."

He emphasized that all targeting operations were directed exclusively at legitimate military targets, following verification and the implementation of necessary precautions to protect civilians and civilian objects.

These developments are part of a military escalation that began in July 2026, which is considered the most extensive since the relative calm Yemen witnessed following a truce that began in April 2022.

Since October 5, the "Dawn of Yemen" military operation has been ongoing, which the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, Rashad Al-Alimi, stated aims to restore state institutions from the Houthis and regain control of the capital, Sanaa.

Yemen has been witnessing a war since the Houthis took control of the capital, Sanaa, and several governorates in September 2014, before a Saudi-led Arab coalition intervened in March 2015 in support of the internationally recognized Yemeni government.
