The Dow Jones Industrial Index, the largest US index, dropped 443 points on Wednesday to 50906 points, a decrease of 0.86 percent.
After today's deliberations, the US Nasdaq Composite Index rose 63 points to reach 26861 points, a 0.24 percent increase.
The S&P 500 index dropped about 19 points to close at 7651 points, a 0.25 percent decrease.
Meanwhile, the price of US West Texas oil rose by about a dollar to reach $90.51 per barrel.
