Um Al-Amad said that two of its educational units in northern Gaza were hit by Israeli occupation forces' shelling early Friday morning, causing severe damage to educational and psychosocial support facilities for children, part of the "Recovery of Gaza Children" program implemented through 14 educational units. The foundation confirmed in a statement on Sunday that the shelling caused no injuries among children or staff, as it occurred on Friday, which is the weekly day off.
Samir Balqur, the foundation's general director, said Um Al-Amad has begun, in coordination with its partner Future Palestine Society, assessing the damage and carrying out maintenance and rehabilitation of the two sites as quickly as possible to ensure uninterrupted resumption of educational and psychological services for children.
He emphasized that the attack will not deter the foundation from continuing its efforts to support children and war-affected people in the Strip, affirming the ongoing implementation of the "Recovery of Gaza Children" program and plans to expand its reach to more children amid the difficult humanitarian, educational, and psychological conditions they face.
The program currently serves around 3,100 male and female students aged 5 to 16 years through 14 equipped educational units across various areas of the Strip. The foundation launched the program last May in partnership with the Jordanian Hashemite Charity Organization, providing a safe educational environment to help children reclaim their right to education, compensate for learning loss, and deliver school meals, psychosocial and social support services, and recreational activities.
The program is part of Jordan's ongoing humanitarian efforts to support Palestinian brothers and sisters, led and directed by His Majesty King Abdullah II, aimed at supporting Gaza residents, strengthening their resilience, and responding to the basic needs of affected children and families.
