The Coalition intercepts a Houthi missile towards southern Saudi Arabia and announces strikes in Yemen

The Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen announced, on Monday, the destruction of a ballistic missile launched by the Houthi militia towards the southern region in Saudi Arabia, at a time when Saudi authorities reported the end of the danger state in several areas that had been covered by early warnings.

The official spokesperson for the Coalition forces, Brigadier General Turki Al-Maliki, said that air defenses intercepted the missile and destroyed it before it reached its target.

The Saudi Civil Defense announced that the danger has passed for Najran, Taif, Abha, and Khamis Mushait, following warnings of a potential threat to these areas.

In field developments inside Yemen, the Yemeni Armed Forces reported carrying out airstrikes and artillery shelling targeting movements and reinforcements of the Houthi militia in Taiz Governorate. The spokesperson for the Armed Forces, Colonel Majed Abdullah Al-Nazili, said that the strikes inflicted losses on the militia and contributed to the forces' progress and control over strategic positions and heights on the Al-Jawf fronts.

These developments come amid escalating tension related to maritime corridors, after Saudi Arabia called, on Sunday, for joint international action to protect them and ensure freedom of navigation, warning against using straits for political and military pressure or turning them into arenas for conflict.

The Vice Chief of the Saudi General Staff, Lieutenant General Fahad bin Abdullah Al-Ghufaili, said during his participation in the "Manama Dialogue 2026" forum that threats affecting maritime corridors impact the interests of all countries and require an effective collective response.

In return, the Houthi-affiliated Ministry of Health announced, on Monday, the injury of seven civilians in airstrikes it said the Saudi-led Coalition launched on Sunday against the Ras Issa port and a station belonging to the Oil Company in Al-Hudaydah Governorate.

The ministry spokesperson, Anis Al-Asbahi, reported via the "X" platform that four people were injured due to shelling targeting the Ras Issa port pier, and three others in a raid on the Oil Company station in Bajil District.

Houthi media had reported on Sunday that Ras Issa port was subjected to raids, indicating that the port pier and a commercial ship were targeted. The group's "Saba" agency also announced the targeting of the Faculty of Medicine at Al-Hudaydah University, while residents told Agence France-Presse that they heard an explosion in the area.

The Coalition stated that it carried out a "precise operation to neutralize vital resources" used by the Houthi militia.

The port of Al-Hudaydah, which is under Houthi control, is considered a main gateway for the entry of food and humanitarian aid into the areas controlled by the group, and it is also used for importing and storing oil.

The conflict in Yemen, which erupted in 2014 between the Houthis and the Saudi-backed government forces, had seen a renewal of fighting in July, after a four-year period of calm, according to the provided text.

The United Nations says that more than 1,600 people have been killed, while more than 300,000 others have been displaced since the fighting resumed.
