The Traffic Management Department at the Public Security Directorate called on citizens, on Thursday, to adhere to traffic rules and priorities and follow the instructions of traffic controllers during the weekend.
Captain Muhammad Al-Droubi, the officer in charge of the Traffic Management Operations Room, confirmed that adherence contributes to enhancing traffic safety and maintaining the fluidity of traffic on the roads.
Al-Droubi said that the primary goal of regulating traffic is to ensure the safety of road users, whether they are pedestrians, drivers, or passengers, from the moment of departure until arrival.
He added that the responsibility for achieving traffic safety lies with everyone by adhering to traffic rules and priorities, including leaving a sufficient safety distance, wearing seat belts, and adhering to the prescribed speed.
Al-Droubi warned against exceeding the prescribed speeds, especially during late evening hours or early morning hours when the streets are free of traffic, stressing that increasing the speed of the vehicle reduces the driver's concentration and control over his vehicle, and increases the likelihood of accidents.
He explained that the Traffic Management Department works to regulate traffic and provide guidance to road users, in addition to monitoring traffic through the control room, balancing lanes at traffic lights, and granting priority according to the size of traffic density.
He emphasized the importance of adhering to the designated lane, especially at the entrances of bridges, tunnels, and traffic light zones, pointing out that the driver's adherence to the designated lane helps avoid traffic accidents and positively reflects on the fluidity of traffic.
Al-Droubi called on citizens to adhere to traffic rules and priorities and follow the instructions of traffic controllers present in the field, confirming the readiness of the Traffic Management Department around the clock to receive citizens' observations and deal with any observation within the scope of its competence.
