Traffic Department: Implementing a Different Traffic Plan on Thursday

The Traffic Department announced the implementation of a different traffic plan during the evening period of Thursday, covering the post-afternoon, evening, and post-isha periods, along with enhanced monitoring in commercial markets and recreational locations.

Captain Musab Al-Marayat, the operations room officer at the Traffic Department, stated that department units have been deployed since early morning hours at the capital's entrances and exits, main intersections, and streets leading to schools and universities to monitor traffic movement and handle any obstacles that might affect its flow.

Al-Marayat added that the department dealt on Thursday morning with a broken-down vehicle after the Al-Dhaher Bridge exit for traffic coming from the Qusour Bridge direction on Istiqlal Street before Interior Ministry Circle, which affected traffic movement and caused a traffic bottleneck before the vehicle was towed and the resulting traffic jam was cleared.

He explained that traffic movement in a number of main intersections inside the capital is flowing smoothly, pointing out that Traffic Department units are monitoring movement in the field, through the operations room, and via surveillance cameras, with priority given to the busiest lanes and directions.

Regarding traffic in the Medical City Circle area, Al-Marayat said that traffic coming from the Sweileh direction is flowing smoothly, as is the traffic coming from the Safout tunnel towards the 8th Circle area, and the opposite traffic towards Khalda and Sweileh, noting that the circle area is subject to monitoring and follow-up by the operations room.

He added that traffic on the 8th Bridge towards the Al-Nahda area leading to the Airport Road is flowing smoothly in both directions, with traffic lights being monitored through the traffic control room and priority given to the heavier direction.

In the Sports City area, he pointed out congestion at the exit, which is being handled by giving priority to traffic on the bridge to avoid affecting Queen Rania Street, in addition to monitoring movement at the Press Tunnel exit and working to clear the traffic bottleneck.

At the Interior Ministry Tunnel, he stated that the remnants of the morning traffic bottleneck on the traffic lane towards Qusour and Istiqlal are still being addressed, while traffic units are monitoring movement at the Interior Ministry exit towards the 4th Circle area and the circle's vicinity.

He also pointed out the smooth flow of traffic coming from Zarqa Governorate at the Al-Mashaqel exit towards Civil Status and the Sports City, urging drivers to commit to the right lane and avoid using the wrong lane to maintain smooth traffic flow at the exit.

In the Al-Sawarih and Sweileh squares area, Al-Marayat explained that traffic is heavy at the pedestrian crossing signal, with traffic officers and field units deployed to regulate movement, urging public transport vehicles to adhere to designated loading and unloading areas to ensure passenger safety during boarding and exiting.

He also urged private vehicle owners not to use non-designated locations for loading and unloading, emphasizing the continuation of field monitoring for the capital's traffic junctions.

He pointed out the use of the Global Positioning System (GPS) to track details of main and secondary streets and dispatch units upon detecting any breakdowns or obstacles, stressing that traffic movement is monitored in the field and through the operations room.

Al-Marayat urged citizens to use the "Sanad" application to submit complaints and remarks related to traffic safety on main and secondary streets, explaining that documented reports are followed up and handled by the Traffic Department in accordance with the law.
