Three power generation stations go offline following a gas pipeline explosion in Syria

The Syrian Electric Company announced on Wednesday that three gas generation stations went offline due to an explosion on a gas pipeline at the Tishreen station.

The company said in a statement that the Deir Ali, Al-Naseriya, and Tishreen stations went offline due to an explosion on the gas pipeline at the station, which led to the cessation of gas supplies needed to operate the stations.

The company added that the fire resulting from the explosion is still ongoing, while specialized teams continue to deal with the incident.

It explained that the shutdown of these stations will lead to a decrease in the amount of generated electricity and a temporary increase in rationing hours due to the resulting shortage in available generation capacity.

For its part, the Syrian News Agency (SANA) said that civil defense teams arrived at the site of the explosion.
