Syria: Gas Pipeline Explosion Takes 3 Power Stations Offline

Three Syrian power stations went offline today, Wednesday, following an explosion on the gas pipeline at the Tishreen station, which led to the cessation of gas supplies needed to operate the stations.

According to the Syrian News Agency (SANA), the Syrian Electric Company stated that the fire resulting from the explosion is still ongoing, while specialized teams continue to deal with the incident.

The company pointed out that the offline status of the three stations, namely Deir Ali, Al-Naseriya, and Tishreen, will temporarily lead to a decrease in the amount of generated electricity and an increase in rationing hours, due to the reduction in available generation capacity.

It confirmed that it will publish updates related to the status of the stations and the electricity supply situation.
