Explosion in a gas line in the Damascus countryside takes 3 stations out of service

The Syrian Electricity Company announced last night that Deir Ali, Al-Naseriya, and Tishreen power plants are out of service due to an explosion on the gas line at the Tishreen station in the Damascus countryside. The cause has not been determined yet, which led to the cessation of the gas supplies needed to operate the stations.

According to the Syrian News Agency (SANA), the company stated in a statement that the specialized teams are dealing with the incident, noting that the outage of these stations will lead to a decrease in the amount of generated electricity and an increase in rationing hours temporarily, due to the shortage in the available generation capacity.

The Director of the Media Department at the Ministry of Energy, Abdul Hamid Sallat, said that the specialized teams managed to close the gas valves and isolate the damaged line at the Tishreen station, confirming that the teams continue to secure the site and monitor the fire until the remaining gas quantity inside the line after closing the valves is consumed, leading to its complete extinguishing, in preparation for starting the technical inspection at the explosion site. The Deir Ali, Al-Naseriya, and Tishreen stations are among the main generation stations linked to the electricity system in the Damascus countryside.
