Three Days to Test Cinematic Writing in the Age of Artificial Intelligence

A specialized workshop titled "Writing a Short Narrative Film Using Artificial Intelligence" addresses the relationship between traditional cinematic writing and AI tools as part of the 11th Jordan International Film Festival events, which will kick off in Amman next Sunday.

The workshop will be held over three days, on September 21, 22, and 23, at the Royal Cultural Center, and will be presented by the festival's guest, Dr. Taha Al-Hashemi, who is being hosted by the current edition along with a number of Arab filmmakers and guests.

The workshop focuses on how to employ AI tools to develop cinematic ideas, build characters, plot, and write the screenplay, emphasizing the writer's role as the creative visionary in the writing process.

The workshop topics include the characteristics of the screenplay and short narrative film, the relationship between AI and cinematic writing, as well as AI applications in developing ideas, characters, plot, and screenplay, in addition to critiquing and analyzing selected samples of short films.

The workshop also includes a practical aspect that transitions participants from idea to screenplay writing using AI tools, allowing them to explore the potential of modern technology in cinematic writing within a vision that preserves the creative presence of the writer.

The workshop is part of the cultural and artistic program of the Jordan International Film Festival, whose 11th edition will be held from September 20 to 24, 2026, at the Royal Cultural Center theaters, under the patronage of the Minister of Culture, Mustafa Al-Ruwaishdeh.
