The Romanian film "The Secret of Pin-Up Island," directed by Alex Nastoiu, was screened as part of the 38th edition of the European Film Festival in Amman, organized by the European Union Delegation to Jordan in partnership with the European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC) and the Royal Film Commission of Jordan.
The 2024 film offers an experience that combines psychological fantasy, adventure, and mystery through the story of "Alicia," who undergoes an innovative treatment based on artificial intelligence and hypnosis to treat depression, finding herself on a virtual journey where memory, reality, and imagination overlap, forcing her to confront the traces of her past and her internal conflicts.
Through this journey, the work raises questions about the potential of technology in dealing with the human experience and the limits of artificial intelligence intervention in psychological and personal aspects, in a treatment that combines the virtual world with the protagonist's internal struggle.
The film won the Best Production Design award at the 2024 Boston Science Fiction Film Festival and also participated in the Transilvania International Film Festival and other festivals.
