The President of the Arab Parliament Welcomes the UN Human Rights Commissioner's Call to Document the Crimes of the Occupation in Gaza

The President of the Arab Parliament, Mohamed bin Ahmed Al-Yamani, affirmed that the recovery of hundreds of bodies and human remains, most of them children and women, including entire families from under the rubble of buildings destroyed by Israeli occupation attacks, reveals the enormity of the humanitarian tragedy and the extent of the damage Gaza has suffered, and necessitates independent, effective, and transparent investigations to determine legal responsibilities.

Al-Yamani pointed to what the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights reported regarding the recovery of more than 630 bodies and human remains from under the destroyed buildings since November 2025, while estimates indicate that more than 8,000 people are still missing under the rubble.

He stressed that the rubble of Gaza is not just debris, but sites that carry crucial evidence of the serious violations and crimes committed against the Palestinian people, making the protection of these sites and the preservation of the evidence in them a legal duty and an essential necessity to uncover the truth and achieve justice.

The President of the Arab Parliament called for preserving the sites of targeting, forensic evidence, and biological samples, documenting the burial places of the victims, working to identify them, and enabling the families of the missing to know the fate of their loved ones and the full truth about the circumstances of their deaths, in accordance with the rules of international law and international humanitarian law.

He emphasized that accountability for serious violations is not a political option, but a necessity to enforce the rules of international law and achieve justice for the victims, stressing the need to ensure that the passage of time or rubble removal operations do not become a means to erase evidence or undermine the chances of access to the truth and accountability, calling on the international community to respond urgently to the High Commissioner's call, and to ensure the safe, independent, and unrestricted access of international investigators and experts to all parts of the sector, and to enable the competent Palestinian authorities to continue their search, recovery of bodies, and provision of necessary equipment and technical capabilities to ensure respect for the sanctity of the dead and the dignity of the victims and the rights of their families.

Al-Yamani called on regional and international parliamentary institutions and countries to support documentation and accountability efforts, and to ensure independent, effective, and transparent investigations into serious violations and hold accountable anyone proven responsible for them, without selectivity or double standards in the application of international law rules, affirming that protecting evidence today is protecting the truth, the memory of the victims, and a fundamental guarantee for achieving justice and preventing impunity, and that the Palestinian people deserve justice and dignity, and the rights of victims and their families to know the truth, fairness, and accountability do not expire.
