The Permanent Bureau of the Jordanian Children's Parliament held a meeting via video conferencing technology "Zoom", chaired by the head of the Permanent Bureau (Director of Zarqa Culture) and assisted by Fatima Al-Thunaibat, with wide participation from parliament members from various governorates of the Kingdom, as part of ongoing efforts to enhance children's participation in public life and develop their leadership skills.
The meeting featured a detailed explanation of the Jordanian Children's Parliament, its main objectives, and the principles upon which it is based, highlighting its role as a national platform that allows children to express their opinions and issues freely, and to discuss legislation and policies related to children's rights in Jordan.
During the meeting, participants were briefed on the parliament's working mechanism and its various committees, the tasks assigned to members, and an overview of the most prominent plans and initiatives that the parliament aims to implement during the coming period in cooperation with national institutions concerned with development and human rights.
The meeting included an interactive dialogue session during which members presented a set of proposals and questions about issues of concern to children, expressing their pride in this experience, which contributes to building their personalities and enabling them to exercise a democratic role and communicate effectively with their peers and decision-makers.
The Jordanian Children's Parliament is a pioneering experience that aims to consolidate the values of citizenship and democracy among the new generation, and to provide a supportive environment that ensures the child's voice is heard and their opinion is taken into account in issues related to their life and future.
