Jordanian Children's Parliament discusses mechanisms to enhance children's participation in public life

The Permanent Bureau of the Jordanian Children's Parliament held an introductory meeting via video conferencing technology "Zoom", with the participation of parliament members from various governorates of the Kingdom, aimed at introducing the parliament's objectives and working mechanisms, and enhancing children's participation in discussing issues related to their rights and future.

The meeting, chaired by the head of the Permanent Bureau, the Director of Culture of Zarqa, assisted by Fatima Al-Dhunibat, addressed the principles upon which the Children's Parliament is based, and its role as a platform allowing children to express their opinions, raise issues of concern to them, and discuss legislation and policies related to child rights in Jordan.

Participants also reviewed the working mechanism of the parliament and its various committees, the tasks assigned to its members, alongside plans and initiatives to be implemented during the upcoming phase, in cooperation with national institutions concerned with development and human rights.

The meeting witnessed an interactive dialogue during which members raised questions and proposals on childhood issues, emphasizing the importance of this experience in developing their leadership and dialogue skills, and enhancing their ability to participate in democratic work and communicate with decision-making entities. The Jordanian Children's Parliament aims to instill the values of citizenship and democracy among children, and provide a space to express their opinions and participate in discussing issues related to their lives, rights, and future.
