"Settlement farms" are a tool to strengthen control over Palestinian lands
The Israeli occupation army continues its daily violations of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, targeting civilians, displaced persons, and various areas of the Strip, coinciding with a broad escalation in the occupied West Bank that includes raids, arrests, settler attacks, and land seizures, amidst UN and human rights warnings regarding the continuation of the policy of forced displacement and the entrenchment of the de facto annexation of the West Bank.
A Palestinian was martyred and 13 others, including children, were injured as a result of Israeli attacks on the city of Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip, while another Palestinian died from wounds sustained in a previous Israeli bombardment.
Medical sources at Nasser Hospital in Khan Yunis reported that the body of a martyr and 12 injured people, including children, arrived at the hospital following a raid carried out by an Israeli drone that targeted a gathering of civilians in the "Al-Sumoud camp" for displaced persons in the Al-Mawasi area west of Khan Yunis.
Earlier, a Palestinian was seriously wounded after an Israeli tank opened fire towards the Ard al-Laimoun area in Al-Mawasi, at a time when the occupation army continued to carry out shelling and shooting operations in various parts of the Strip, despite the ceasefire agreement being in effect.
Violations on Saturday included intense artillery shelling of the eastern areas of the Jabalia camp, the Al-Tuffah neighborhood east of Gaza City, and the northern areas of the Al-Bureij camp, while Israeli naval boats fired heavy machine guns towards maritime areas northwest of Gaza City, coinciding with artillery shelling that affected areas west of Rafah and east of Gaza City.
In Beit Lahia in the northern Strip, a pregnant woman was wounded by occupation forces' gunfire in the vicinity of Al-Salatin roundabout, while two Palestinians were injured as a result of Israeli shelling near Abu Obaida prison.
According to press sources in Gaza, the toll of those injured as a result of an Israeli drone targeting a gathering of civilians near the tents of displaced persons in Al-Mawasi, Khan Yunis, rose to nine Palestinians, with their injuries ranging from moderate to serious.
In the West Bank, an elderly man and a Palestinian child sustained bruises and fractures on Saturday during raids carried out by occupation forces in various areas, which included the arrest of eight Palestinians.
The Palestinian Red Crescent said that a 68-year-old man sustained bruises to his back and chest, while a 14-year-old child suffered a fracture in his right hand during the occupation forces' raid on the village of Marka south of Jenin, and the injured were taken to a local emergency center in the nearby town of Arraba for treatment.
The Red Crescent added that the occupation forces arrested six Palestinians during their raid on a number of towns in the Jenin governorate, and raided homes, including those of released prisoners.
The raids extended to the Al-Am'ari and Qaddura camps and the city of Al-Bireh in the Ramallah and Al-Bireh governorate, the Qalandia camp and the town of Kafr Aqab north of Jerusalem, in addition to the towns of Tuqu', Al-Ubeidiya, Dar Salah, Al-Shawawra, and Za'atara in the Bethlehem governorate.
In the context of settler attacks, security sources reported that settlers attacked the outskirts of the town of Burqa east of Ramallah, and pelted Palestinian homes and vehicles with stones, which led to damage to a Palestinian vehicle.
The Palestinian Prisoners' Club stated that the occupation forces have arrested more than 100 Palestinians during the last week, while the number of detainees from the West Bank since October 2023 has risen to more than 25,000 Palestinians, in addition to thousands of detainees from the Gaza Strip.
In another indicator of the escalation of attacks on agricultural lands, the West Bank recorded 536 attacks carried out by occupation forces and settlers against Palestinian agricultural lands from the beginning of the year until the end of last August, according to the Palestinian Information Center "Mu'ta".
According to the center, 64 attacks occurred during the last month alone, at an average of nearly two and a half operations per day, while the average number of attacks during the first eight months of the year reached about 67 attacks per month.
The attacks included the destruction of seasonal crops, the bulldozing of agricultural lands, the uprooting of trees, and the destruction of crops, at a time when the scope of seizing Palestinian lands for the benefit of settlements, outposts, and settlement farms is expanding.
Human Rights Watch confirmed in a report that the violence carried out by settlers escalated during March and April 2026 in the West Bank, noting that the Israeli authorities "arm, fund, and protect the violent settlers responsible for these escalating bloody violations."
Sari Sanbar, a researcher in the Israel and Palestine division at the organization, said that the Israeli government and settlers share the goal of "seizing as much land as possible with as few Palestinians as possible," adding that the Israeli authorities do not just fail to stop settler violence, but enable it by providing weapons, legal cover, and budget.
According to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), the average number of settler attacks in the West Bank during 2026 reached about 6.6 attacks per day, resulting in casualties or damage to property or both, which is the highest rate recorded by the office.
In the same context, the Israeli Information Center for Human Rights in the Occupied Territories "B'Tselem" documented the displacement of 65 Palestinian communities and individual families in the West Bank up to July 8, 2026, describing these practices as coming within the framework of "ethnic cleansing."
The UN Human Rights Office, through Ajith Sunghay, head of the office in the occupied Palestinian territory, confirmed the existence of "total impunity for all parties to the conflict for the violations committed," noting that Israel has not, to the office's knowledge, taken any steps to hold the perpetrators of these violations accountable.
Israeli data reveals the expansion of the scope of control over Palestinian lands through so-called "settlement farms," which now extend over an area of more than 1.1 million dunams in areas classified as "C," which is about a third of the area of these regions, which totals nearly 3.5 million dunams, according to a report by the settlement "Farms Association."
Settlements also seize about an additional 200,000 dunams of land in Area "C," which currently includes nearly 130 settlement farms, including about 40 farms established during the last two years.
These farms are concentrated particularly in the eastern West Bank, especially in the Jordan Valley area, as well as south of the Hebron Hills, while the "Farms Association" seeks to expand the scope of land seizure with the aim of controlling an additional million dunams.
Israeli right-wing circles treat settlement farms as a tool to strengthen control over the occupied Palestinian lands, while their rhetoric reflects expansionist goals that go beyond establishing traditional settlements to imposing a new geographical reality on the ground.
In this framework, a report issued by the Israeli anti-occupation and anti-settlement movements "Peace Now" and "Kerem Navot" stated that Benjamin Netanyahu's government is accelerating the implementation of a plan to effectively annex the West Bank, noting that the government has established about 185 random settlement outposts over the three years 2023–2025, while the residents of 118 Palestinian communities have been displaced.
These data combined indicate the expansion of two parallel paths in the occupied Palestinian territories: continuous military violations in the Gaza Strip despite the ceasefire, and a settlement escalation and operations of displacement and land seizure in the West Bank, which reinforces fears of entrenching the reality of de facto annexation and changing the demographic and geographical map of the Palestinian territories.
