The participants emphasized the necessity for knowledge institutions to keep pace with digital transformation, and to benefit from the potential of artificial intelligence in developing library services, facilitating access to information sources for readers and researchers, in addition to enhancing the efficiency of workers in this sector and developing research tools and benefiting from knowledge content.
The seminar was attended by the Director General of the National Library Circle, Firas Al-Dara'beh, Professor of Library and Information Science, Dr. Rubhi Al-Ayyan, and the Director of the Jordan University Library, Dr. Mujahid Dhnaibat, while the dialogue was moderated by the President of the Jordanian Libraries and Information Association, Dr. Imad Abu Eid.
The dialogue touched on the future of books in the digital environment, the changes taking place in the knowledge industry due to artificial intelligence tools, as well as the opportunities provided by modern technologies for libraries to transition from their traditional roles to more interactive and innovative roles, responding to the changes in the needs of readers and researchers.
The participants pointed out that technological development does not eliminate the cultural and humanitarian role of libraries, but rather opens up new fields of work and development for them, enhancing their status as institutions that preserve knowledge and national memory, and contribute to its availability and dissemination to current and future generations.
The seminar is part of the cultural program of the National Reading Day Festival 2026, which aims to promote a reading culture and consolidate the status of the book in society, in addition to providing spaces for dialogue and discussion on issues of knowledge, books, libraries, and their future in light of rapid technological transformations.
