The Latin Patriarchate condemns the terrorist attack on the Karak church

The Latin Patriarchate condemned, in the strongest terms, the terrorist attack that targeted the Greek Orthodox Church in the town of Hammoud in Karak Governorate, which resulted in martyrs and wounded, considering it a crime that "violates the sanctity of houses of worship and infringes upon the human right to life, security, and the freedom to worship with dignity."

It extended its condolences to the families of the martyrs and the people of the town, offering its prayers for the recovery of the injured and for the consolation of the victims' families.

The Patriarchate affirmed its pride in the historical and national role of the Hashemite family, led by His Majesty King Abdullah II and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al-Hussein bin Abdullah II, in consolidating the values of moderation and tolerance and safeguarding human dignity and the freedom to practice religious rites. It stressed that "Jordanian national cohesion is the safety valve in confronting terrorism, extremism, and all attempts to sow division and strife," emphasizing that Jordanians, Muslims and Christians alike, are one national family united by a shared history and a single destiny.

It also expressed its support for the security services and the authorities concerned with pursuing the perpetrators, calling for standing united against anyone who seeks to undermine Jordan's security and unity.

It concluded its statement by praying for the martyrs and the wounded and for the protection of Jordan, its leadership, and its people, asking God to make this ordeal an occasion to renew national unity and coexistence, and for "love and brotherhood to be stronger than terrorism and hatred."
