A statement of denunciation and condemnation issued by the Evangelical Free Church denomination in Jordan
In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit
With deep sadness and sorrow, and with feelings of intense anger and condemnation, the Evangelical Free Church denomination in Jordan follows the sinful terrorist crime witnessed in Karak Governorate today, Friday, October 23, 2026, which targeted a church in the village of Hamoud, resulting in martyrs and a number of injuries among innocent citizens.
We condemn in the strongest terms this cowardly criminal assault, which constitutes a flagrant violation of the sanctity of human life and the sanctity of houses of worship, and an attack on religious, moral, and human values, as well as on Jordan's security, stability, and national unity.
Targeting innocent people in places of worship is a crime rejected by all standards and cannot be justified by any pretext or extremist ideology. We affirm that terrorism has no religion, and that violence and hatred do not represent the essence of true faith, but rather contradict the message of love, peace, and mercy called for by heavenly religions.
While expressing our full solidarity with our people in Karak Governorate, we extend our deepest condolences and sincerest sympathies to the families of the martyrs and their relatives, and to the members of the church and the local community. We lift our prayers to God for the healing of the injured, the consolation of broken hearts, and to grant strength and hope to all those affected by this painful tragedy.
We also affirm our standing by our Hashemite leadership, state institutions, and security apparatuses, and our confidence in their ability to pursue the perpetrators of this crime and bring them to justice in accordance with the provisions of the law.
We, in the Evangelical Free Church denomination, affirm that our national unity, the brotherhood of Muslims and Christians, and the respect for the sanctity of humans and houses of worship are firm constants that must not be compromised. Acts of violence and terrorism will not succeed in tearing the Jordanian national fabric or sowing discord among the people of the same nation.
May God have mercy on the martyrs, grant their families patience and consolation, heal the injured, keep Jordan safe and united, and perpetuate the blessing of love and peace upon its people.
"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God." (Matthew 5:9)
