A statement issued by the General Federation of Jordanian Trade Unions regarding the heinous crime of targeting a church in Karak

The President of the General Federation of Jordanian Trade Unions, Khaled Al-Fanatsa, on behalf of the members of the Federation's Executive Office, condemns in the strongest terms the heinous crime that targeted a church in Karak Governorate, resulting in a number of deaths and injuries among our Christian brothers, partners in this land and nation. This sinful act and cowardly assault constitutes a violation of the sanctity of places of worship, an attack on Jordan's security, stability, and national unity, and a desperate attempt to undermine the cohesive social fabric that forms one of the most important pillars of the strength of the Jordanian state.

Targeting peaceful worshippers and places of worship is a crime that contradicts all religious, human, and moral values, and represents an assault on the right of citizens to practice their religious rites freely and safely. Furthermore, harming the security of members of Jordanian society, both Muslims and Christians, is an attack on the security of all Jordanians; for Jordan is one homeland, and its people are partners in its present and future, united by citizenship, belonging, and a common destiny.

The Federation affirms that such crimes will not undermine the unity and cohesion of Jordanians, nor will they succeed in sowing discord, inciting strife, or destabilizing security. Jordan, with its leadership, people, and institutions, is stronger than all attempts to tamper with its security, and it will remain a model of fraternity, tolerance, and coexistence, resilient against anyone who attempts to target its national unity or undermine its internal immunity.

While the Federation expresses its confidence in the competent security services and their ability to uncover the circumstances of this crime, it stresses the necessity of pursuing those involved in it and anyone proven to be involved in inciting or supporting it, and bringing them to justice to receive their punishment in accordance with the law. It also calls for exercising awareness and responsibility, and not being drawn into rumors or circulating unreliable information that may be exploited to incite strife and destabilize societal peace.

The Federation renews its firm position in defending the unity of the national ranks and consolidating the values of solidarity and fraternity among Jordanians, emphasizing that protecting the security and stability of the homeland is a shared national responsibility, and that the unity of Jordanians will remain an impregnable fortress in the face of all attempts at targeting.

The Federation affirms that the workers of Jordan, in all sectors, stand as one rank behind His Majesty King Abdullah II ibn Al-Hussein and the security services in protecting Jordan's security, stability, and national unity. The trade union and labor movement will remain at the forefront of those defending the homeland and its constants, and confronting all attempts to tamper with its security or undermine the cohesion of our Jordanian society.

The Federation, on behalf of the Jordanian trade union movement, extends its sincerest condolences and deepest sympathy to the families of the victims and their relatives, and to our Christian family and brothers in general, asking the Almighty to grant their families and relatives patience and solace, and to grant the injured and wounded a speedy recovery.

May God keep Jordan safe and stable, keep its people united and cohesive, thwart the schemes of the aggressors, and perpetuate the blessing of security and safety upon our homeland.

President of the General Federation of Jordanian Trade Unions
