The Eastern Military Zone thwarts an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of narcotics

The Eastern Military Zone thwarted, at dawn on Sunday, an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of narcotics using guided balloons, after monitoring them as they attempted to cross the border into Jordanian territory.

Border Guard units, within their area of responsibility, were able to monitor the balloons, engage them, and shoot them down inside Jordanian territory. The narcotics they were carrying were seized in coordination with security and military agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department, and the seized items were referred to the competent authorities to take the necessary legal measures.

The Jordanian Armed Forces affirm their continued firm stance in confronting all infiltration and smuggling attempts, monitoring the various methods and means used to carry them out, and taking the necessary operational measures to thwart and deal with them.
