The Southern Military Zone on Sunday morning foiled an attempt to smuggle a quantity of narcotic substances using guided balloons, after they were detected trying to cross the border into Jordanian territory.
Border Guard units, within their area of responsibility, detected, engaged, and brought down the balloons inside Jordanian territory, seizing the narcotics they were carrying, in coordination with military and security agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department, while the seized items were referred to the competent authorities to take the necessary legal measures.
The Jordan Armed Forces – Arab Army affirmed that recurring smuggling attempts and changing methods will not deter Border Guard forces from performing their duties, stressing that they continue to monitor and track all forms of illicit activities across the border fronts and deal with them firmly.
