Army thwarts attempt to smuggle a large quantity of narcotics using guided balloons

The Eastern Military Zone thwarted, at dawn on Tuesday, an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of narcotics using guided balloons, after monitoring them as they attempted to cross the border into Jordanian territory.

Border Guard units, within their area of responsibility, were able to track the balloons, engage them, and shoot them down inside Jordanian territory. The narcotics they were carrying were seized in coordination with security and military agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department, and the seized items were referred to the competent authorities to take the necessary legal measures.

The Jordanian Armed Forces affirmed the readiness of the Border Guard units to deal with all infiltration and smuggling attempts with efficiency and capability, to protect the nation's security and stability.
