At dawn on Sunday, the Eastern Military Zone thwarted an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of narcotics loaded on guided balloons along its front and within its area of responsibility.
Border Guard units managed to monitor the balloons, deal with them, and shoot them down inside Jordanian territory, seizing their cargo of narcotics in coordination with security and military agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department.
The confiscated items were referred to the competent authorities to take the necessary legal procedures.
The Jordanian Armed Forces – the Arab Army affirms its continued firm stance in confronting smuggling and infiltration attempts across the borders, monitoring the various methods and means used to carry them out, and taking the necessary operational measures to thwart and deal with them.
