Army thwarts drug smuggling attempt using guided balloons

The Southern Military Region thwarted, on Monday, an attempt to smuggle a quantity of narcotics using guided balloons, after monitoring them as they attempted to cross the border into Jordanian territory.

Border Guard units, within their area of responsibility, were able to monitor the balloons, engage them, and shoot them down inside Jordanian territory, where the narcotics they were carrying were seized, in coordination with security and military agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department. The seized items were transferred to the competent authorities to take the necessary legal measures.

The Jordanian Armed Forces – the Arab Army, continues its tireless efforts to protect the Kingdom's borders and confront, with full force, attempts at infiltration, smuggling, and undermining national security, armed with an advanced surveillance system and close, continuous coordination with various security agencies to ensure the safety of the nation and its citizens.
