The Arab Parliament Welcomes the UN General Assembly Decision on Palestine's Participation

The President of the Arab Parliament, Mohamed Al-Yamani, welcomed the adoption by the UN General Assembly, with a majority of 152 countries, of a resolution on the participation of the State of Palestine in the work of the 81st session of the General Assembly.

Al-Yamani emphasized that this broad international vote represents a clear message rejecting attempts to marginalize Palestine and silence its people's voice in the international organization, and a victory for its right to participate and represent in accordance with the rules of multilateral work and international legitimacy resolutions, and that Palestine cannot be absent and its people's voice cannot be muffled, and its just cause cannot be silenced or removed from the circle of international attention, appreciating the positions of the countries that supported the resolution.

He stressed that this position embodies adherence to the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, foremost of which is the right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent sovereign state with its capital Jerusalem, in accordance with international law and resolutions of international legitimacy and respect for the status of the State of Palestine and its rights at the United Nations.

He pointed out that attempts to prevent the Palestinian voice do not negate the Palestinian reality and the obstruction of the delegation does not obscure the issue, affirming that Palestine will remain present in the United Nations and in all international forums, and that attempts to marginalize it will not succeed in erasing its rights or changing the established facts, calling for respect for the provisions of the Headquarters Agreement and the principles of multilateral work, and not to use political measures or restrictions to undermine Palestine's right to representation and participation.

He affirmed that the Arab Parliament will continue its parliamentary and diplomatic moves at the Arab, regional and international levels, in support of the State of Palestine and its people, and in defense of their legitimate national rights, to end the occupation and realize the independent sovereign Palestinian state with its capital Jerusalem.
