The General Secretariat of the League of Arab States welcomed the adoption by the United Nations General Assembly, with a wide majority of 152 countries, of the resolution on the participation of the State of Palestine in the work of the United Nations, allowing President Mahmoud Abbas to deliver his speech to the General Assembly via a video recording, following the US decision to prevent him and members of the Palestinian delegation from participating in person in UN meetings in New York.
The General Secretariat of the Arab League stated in a statement that this vote reflects a broad international position rejecting the deprivation of the State of Palestine of its right to convey its voice and positions to the international community, and emphasizes the importance of ensuring its participation in the work of the United Nations and international forums.
The General Secretariat of the League of Arab States valued the positions of the countries that sponsored the resolution and voted in favor of it, stressing the importance of the United States, as the host country, committing to its obligations under the Headquarters Agreement of the United Nations, to ensure the participation of delegations in the work of the international organization without obstacles.
The General Secretariat of the League emphasized that the Palestinian voice will remain present on the podium of the United Nations, and that the broad international support for the resolution reflects the international community's commitment to the presence of the State of Palestine and its cause in the work of the international organization, and to the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.
