The Ministry of Public Works and Housing is preparing to launch the "Masar" electronic payment service on the Al-Harrana–Al-Omari toll road, starting next Sunday. This step aims to facilitate road usage procedures, reduce transit time, and employ modern digital solutions in road management and operation.
The new service allows road users to pay tolls electronically through a wallet linked to the service, whereby the vehicle is automatically identified as it passes, and the due fees are deducted directly from the wallet balance without the need to stop for payment.
"Masar" provides two mechanisms for vehicle identification and toll collection. The first is dedicated to Jordanian vehicles and relies on reading the vehicle's license plate number via smart cameras, after the vehicle owner subscribes to the service through the "Sanad" application and activates the associated electronic wallet, without the need to install any stickers or additional devices on the vehicle.
The second mechanism is available for both Jordanian and foreign vehicles and relies on using an electronic sticker that operates via Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology. This sticker is affixed to the vehicle, and its identification number is linked to the service, allowing the system to automatically identify the vehicle as it passes and deduct the road usage fees from the electronic wallet.
The Ministry explained that obtaining the RFID sticker will be available through the Ministry's Road Asset Management Directorate, as well as from the Al-Harrana station site, where users can obtain the sticker and complete the procedures for linking it to the service.
This service comes within the framework of the Ministry's move towards developing the road management system and increasing its operational efficiency by adopting modern electronic payment methods that contribute to facilitating vehicle movement, reducing traditional collection procedures, and improving the experience of toll road users.
The Ministry emphasized that the "Masar" service was designed to provide flexible options for owners of Jordanian and foreign vehicles, allowing them to benefit from the road through a simplified electronic mechanism that contributes to enhancing operational efficiency and providing easier services to citizens and road users.
The Ministry is expected to announce the details of the service's commencement, as well as subscription and activation procedures, in conjunction with its official launch.
