"Road Transport" Starts Installing Electronic Payment and Tracking Devices on "Al Al-Bayt" and "Yarmouk" Lines

The Road Transport Regulatory Authority has started installing electronic payment devices, GPS tracking systems, and surveillance cameras on buses operating on the (Irbid - Mafraq - Al Al-Bayt University) and (Mafraq - Irbid - Yarmouk University) lines, in preparation for the official operation of the system in the coming days.

The director of the Road Transport Regulatory Authority's office in Irbid, Muhammad Al-Olayyan, confirmed that this step comes within the project to support the transportation fares of public university students, in which the Authority contributes 50% of the approved fare value.

Al-Olayyan explained that the payment process will be done through electronic applications approved on smartphones and digital payment means, ensuring the automation of the process and the direct and automatic arrival of government support to the deserving students; where the student pays only half the fare value through the application; for example, if the fare of the trip is one dinar, the application deducts half a dinar from the student, while the Authority bears the other half and transfers it to the carrier's account.

He added that equipping the buses with tracking devices and cameras aims to increase the efficiency of operation, monitor the adherence of the vehicles to the specified routes and schedules, in addition to enhancing general safety standards and controlling passenger capacity.
