Settler Terrorism.. A Palestinian and his wife injured and their home besieged in southern West Bank

A Palestinian and his wife were injured, on Tuesday evening, after Israeli settlers attacked them with beatings and besieged their home in southern the occupied West Bank.

Palestinian citizen Ayman Shanaran told Anadolu that dozens of settlers besieged the home of his relative, Yousef Shanaran, in the Wad al-Rakim area, south of Masafer Yatta in Hebron Governorate, and assaulted him and his wife with beatings, causing them injuries.

He added that the settlers set up, on Monday evening, a tent meters from the house, and on Tuesday, dozens of them gathered in it, before besieging the house.

He confirmed that the Israeli army arrived at the scene, but did not lift the siege on the house, while ambulances were unable to reach the injured, noting that there were 7 children inside it.

On Sunday, a report by the Palestinian Anti-Wall and Settlement Authority, a government body, revealed that settlers carried out 14,742 attacks in the West Bank since October 2023, resulting in the death of 66 Palestinians.

In August, the US Ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, described the Israelis involved in acts of violence against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank as "terrorists," warning that these practices cause great damage to Israel's image.

In June, 14 UN rapporteurs warned that the sharp escalation in the pace of "settler terrorism," with the support and complicity of the Israeli state in the occupied Palestinian territory, poses an existential threat to Palestinian communities.

The number of settlers in the West Bank, including occupied East Jerusalem, is estimated at about 750,000, living in 194 settlements and 400 outposts, according to official Palestinian data.

Since the start of the Israeli genocide war in Gaza in October 2023, the Israeli army and settlers have escalated their attacks in the West Bank, resulting in the killing of 1,210 Palestinians, injuring 13,350 people, and arresting 24,600 people.
