Secretary-General of the League of Arab States affirms support for Lebanon's sovereignty and stability

Secretary-General of the League of Arab States Nabil Fahmy affirmed that the security and stability of Lebanon are an integral part of Arab national security, stressing the importance of intensifying Arab and international efforts to halt Israeli aggression, end the Israeli occupation of Lebanese territories, and support Lebanese state institutions to enable them to extend their authority over all their territories.

This came during a field visit conducted by Fahmy today, Tuesday, to southern Lebanon to assess the security and humanitarian situation in light of the ongoing Israeli aggression, and to emphasize the support of the League of Arab States for Lebanon and its people in facing current challenges.

The visit, during which he was accompanied by Lebanese Minister of Social Affairs Haneen Al-Sayed, included the Zahrani region, the town of Zoutar El Gharbiyeh, and the headquarters of the Lebanese Army command in the South Litani sector in the city of Tyre, where he was briefed on the developments of the field situation and the ongoing Israeli violations, as well as the destruction of homes, facilities, and infrastructure that southern villages and towns are being subjected to, and the resulting damage affecting citizens' lives and livelihoods, and hindering recovery and reconstruction efforts.

Fahmy listened to a presentation on the efforts exerted by the Lebanese Army in performing its national duties under exceptional circumstances, while army commanders warned of the risks of a security vacuum emerging in the south following the departure of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), and the potential repercussions this may have on the security and stability of the region, emphasizing the necessity of strengthening the army's capabilities and enabling it to carry out its responsibilities during the coming phase.
