Arab League warns of consequences of provocative Israeli policies

Secretary-General of the Arab League Nabil Fahmy affirmed the Arab League's categorical rejection of any attempts aimed at changing the geographical and demographic reality in the occupied Palestinian territories, denouncing daily Israeli practices and policies that reflect Israel's desire to alter the identity, character, and legal and historical status of Jerusalem.

This came during Fahmy's participation in the joint ministerial meeting between the Arab League and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation on Jerusalem, held on the sidelines of the high-level segment of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, with broad high-level participation from Arab and Islamic countries.

Fahmy referred to the statement issued by the Council of the Arab League at the ministerial level during its session held earlier this September regarding the situation in the occupied Arab territories, conveying a message to the Security Council and the international community emphasizing the need to move beyond condemnation to taking action and assuming responsibility for protecting Jerusalem and its holy sites.

He called for obliging Israel to halt all settlement and expansionist activities, forced displacement, and land looting and confiscation, warning of the dangerous consequences of Israel's continued provocative practices and policies, and its disregard for Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.
