"Fitch Solutions": Increase in tourism from Turkey, Iraq, and Syria compensated for the decline in visitors from Western markets

Transit goods through Aqaba Port increased by 155% during the first half of 2026, year-on-year, driven by the redirection of trade to Gulf and Iraq countries via the port, according to a report by "Fitch Solutions".

The report, reviewed by "Al-Mamlaka", stated that the disruption in navigation in the Strait of Hormuz contributed to increased activity at Aqaba Port, Jordan's only seaport, enhancing the performance of the logistics services sector in the Kingdom.

It pointed out that the increase in transit goods coincided with a noticeable increase in import volumes passing through the port, which supported activity in the transport and storage sectors.
