Receiving applications for replacing unsafe heaters begins Sunday

Minister of Social Development Wafaa Bani Mustafa announced that the ministry will begin receiving applications for replacing unsafe heaters with safe ones starting Sunday, in implementation of the Prime Minister's directives during the Cabinet session held last week.

Bani Mustafa said on Saturday that applications will be received through Social Development directorates in all governorates and districts of the Kingdom, to facilitate citizens' access to safe heaters and ensure they reach those who deserve them.

She explained that the applications are intended for replacing unsafe heaters and do not include cash or in-kind assistance, which are subject to a specific targeting equation, conditions, and criteria based on the comprehensive inquiry system.

She emphasized that the decision comes out of concern for the safety of citizens and their protection from accidents resulting from the use of unsafe heaters, by providing safe heating methods before the start of winter and replacing heaters that do not meet public safety conditions with others that comply with approved specifications.

Bani Mustafa pointed out that the decision is a continuation of the government initiative implemented during last year's winter, which included replacing 16,000 unsafe heaters with safe ones, with government support and in cooperation with Tkiyet Um Ali.

She added that the initiative witnessed a high turnout from citizens and contributed to reducing the number of accidents associated with the use of unsafe heaters.
