Government Directs Intensification of Inspection on Factories and Stores Selling Heaters

Prime Minister Dr. Jafar Hassan, during the Council of Ministers session held last Tuesday, directed the Ministry of Social Development to continue replacing unsafe heaters for citizens with other safe ones.

The decision comes out of concern for the safety of citizens, and with the aim of providing safe heating means for them before the start of winter, and to provide them with the opportunity to replace any type of unsafe heaters that may not meet safety and security requirements with others that have safe specifications.

Earlier, the Council of Ministers decided last January to task the Ministry of Social Development with replacing 15,000 unsafe heaters with safe ones, and to allocate the necessary funds for this, through the directorates and social development centers in the governorates.

In a related context, the Prime Minister directed the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply and the relevant regulatory authorities to intensify inspection procedures on factories and commercial stores specialized in manufacturing and selling heaters; to ensure the use of safety and security requirements in all heating means.

The Prime Minister emphasized the necessity of controlling any violations, and dealing with them in accordance with the provisions of the laws and regulations governing them, and not to be lenient in this regard at all.
