Via Alrai Radio.. Standards and Metrology: 53,000 non-compliant heaters seized, confiscated, and destroyed

The Standards and Metrology Organization announced, via Alrai Radio, the seizure of about 53,000 heaters that do not comply with Jordanian standards and technical regulations, and that they have been confiscated and destroyed to prevent them from reaching citizens' homes, confirming the continuation of its inspection campaigns in preparation for the winter season to preserve the safety of citizens and their property.

The organization's media spokesperson, Salem Al-Jbour, said in his interview with the "Pulse of Alrai" program via Alrai Radio that the campaign, which has been ongoing since last year, came in the wake of painful accidents caused by heaters that did not meet specifications or resulted from their improper use.

Al-Jbour pointed out, during his talk via Alrai Radio, that the measures taken include confiscating and destroying non-compliant heaters, in addition to intensifying market surveillance and educating citizens on the safety requirements that must be followed when purchasing and using heaters.

He added that the organization, in cooperation with the Jordan Chamber of Commerce, has issued instructions prohibiting the sale, circulation, display, and production of "Shamousa" heaters in all their forms, warning via Alrai Radio that violating these instructions exposes their owners to legal penalties.

Al-Jbour called on citizens, via Alrai Radio, not to buy portable heaters known as "Shamousa," or heaters with long hoses, and to report their presence in the markets.

He emphasized the necessity of ensuring that the gas heater hose is intended for gas and labeled (Gas Hose), and that the heater is equipped with a fixed, non-adjustable gas regulator, in addition to the presence of instructions and warnings written in Arabic.

Al-Jbour stressed, in his interview with the "Pulse of Alrai" program via Alrai Radio, the importance of choosing the appropriate heater for the place of use, and not using heaters intended for gardens or outdoor spaces inside homes, with the need to provide adequate ventilation and keep heaters away from clothes, curtains, and flammable materials.

He also warned against using unsuitable electrical connections for electric heaters, due to the potential for electric shocks or fires, calling on citizens, via Alrai Radio, to adhere to public safety instructions.

Al-Jbour confirmed that the Standards and Metrology Organization places consumer protection at the top of its priorities, stressing the continuation of inspection campaigns in cooperation with the concerned authorities to ensure the safety of products circulating in the Jordanian markets.

He called on citizens, via Alrai Radio, to report any non-compliant heaters, to preserve their safety and the safety of their families and property as the winter season approaches.
