"Planting Hope" initiative launched for breast cancer awareness and afforestation

The Tafilah Governorate Agriculture Directorate launched today, in cooperation with the Women's Empowerment Unit at the Greater Tafilah Municipality and with the participation of government institutions, youth groups, and community activists, an initiative titled "Planting Hope," as part of the awareness activities for the Breast Cancer Early Detection Month, "Pink October."

The initiative included planting a group of forest trees within the Greater Tafilah Municipality park, as part of the initiative's goals to combine spreading health awareness about the importance of early screening and supporting women's health with fostering environmental culture and increasing green spaces in the governorate.

The Director of the Tafilah Governorate Agriculture Directorate, Engineer Bilal Al-Haloul, emphasized that the initiative goes beyond its environmental dimension to establish a message of community solidarity with women and their health, noting that expanding the green area and planting forest trees represent an integral part of the directorate's strategy to combat desertification and improve the local environment, which positively reflects on the quality of life in various areas of the governorate.

For his part, the Chairman of the Greater Tafilah Municipality Committee, Dr. Mohammad Al-Karimeen, stressed the municipality's keenness to sponsor and support participatory initiatives that serve the health and environmental sectors, explaining that opening public parks and gardens to host such events stems from the municipality's belief in its developmental and social role in embracing youth and awareness-raising energies, and in a way that enhances social solidarity and the preservation of public facilities.
