"Women's Network for Climate Action" carries out a tree-planting campaign and an environmental awareness lecture in West Irbid

The "Women's Network for Climate Action" carried out an initiative to plant trees around the "Kufr Yuba Sports Complex" in the West Irbid District, in cooperation with the West Irbid Municipality and the Irbid Governorate Youth Directorate, with the aim of enhancing green cover and spreading environmental awareness.

The patron of the ceremony, head of the West Irbid Municipality Committee, Engineer Mohammad Al-Qudah, emphasized the importance of promoting a culture of public cleanliness and reducing waste, stressing that environmental preservation is a shared responsibility that requires the cooperation of institutions and citizens, and the consolidation of positive behaviors that maintain the cleanliness of cities and public facilities, noting that community initiatives enhance environmental awareness and leave a positive impact on the climate.

He also explained that the municipality is making great efforts in terms of cleanliness to remove more than 50 tons of waste daily, directing his thanks and appreciation in particular to the "workers of the nation" (sanitation workers), valuing their sincere efforts and their active participation since the early morning hours in preparing the site and making the event a success, confirming that the daily work they provide deserves appreciation and respect.

For his part, the Director of Youth for Irbid Governorate, Issa Twalbeh, affirmed the directorate's keenness to enhance youth awareness of climate issues, climate change, and the concept of volunteer work, confirming the directorate's full support for all youth and volunteer initiatives concerned with the green sector and environmental development.

In turn, Khitam Al-Mazari spoke about the importance of protecting the environment and enhancing community awareness of climate challenges, and the role of volunteer initiatives in preserving natural resources and vegetation cover, stressing the importance of integrating efforts between official institutions and the local community to achieve environmental sustainability.

In the speech of the Women's Network for Climate Action, the network's coordinator and liaison officer, Engineer Dina Al-Shahrour, explained the importance of the role of young men and women in facing climate change, noting that protecting the environment begins with simple daily practices that may seem limited in impact, but make a real difference when they turn into a community culture.

Al-Shahrour said: "Just as small emissions accumulate and affect our climate, our positive actions also accumulate and create change."

She pointed out that this activity comes as a continuation of the activities carried out by the network in the West Irbid area, explaining that the network is working within an initiative to plant a thousand trees in each district, with the aim of enhancing environmental sustainability and involving youth and local communities in planting and caring for trees themselves, which ensures the continuity of the impact of these initiatives and enhances future environmental awareness.

The tree-planting process was preceded by an environmental awareness lecture organized by the "Kufr Yuba Cultural Forum" and the "Shumou' Al-Farah Charitable Society" in cooperation with the Directorate of Environment Protection / Irbid, and the Irbid Governorate Directorate of Culture, under the title: "Preserving Public Places, School Yards, and Public Facilities," which targeted age groups in the primary stage. In this context, the head of the Kufr Yuba Cultural Forum, Mr. Samir Radaideh, emphasized the importance of volunteering and maintaining the cleanliness of public places, stressing the forum's support and its continuation in implementing environmental and community initiatives.

The event concluded with the participation of attendees, youth, and volunteers in planting forest trees around the sports complex, confirming the importance of collective action in protecting the environment and enhancing green spaces, and consolidating values of belonging and responsibility towards society and the nation.
