"Land Transport" launches two new routes connecting Sweileh to Ma'an and Tafilah to Ain Al-Basha

The Land Transport Regulatory Commission (LTRC) announced the commencement of two new public transport services starting Saturday, October 31, 2026, to connect the Sweileh area in the capital, Amman, with Ma'an Governorate, and the Ain Al-Basha District in Balqa Governorate with Tafilah Governorate. This comes within the framework of the Commission's continuous efforts to develop a regular, safe, and sustainable public transport system, and to enhance connectivity between the southern governorates, the capital Amman, and Balqa Governorate, contributing to facilitating the movement of citizens and students.

The first route includes the "Sweileh – Ma'an" line, with a length of 222 km and a set fare of 4.5 Jordanian Dinars per passenger, with the assembly and departure point in the Sweileh area near the Wadi Al-Seer bus stop.

Outbound trips from Sweileh to Ma'an will take place on Saturdays, with two trips; the first departs at 1:00 PM and arrives at 5:00 PM, while the second departs at 3:00 PM and arrives at 7:00 PM. Return trips from Ma'an to Sweileh will be on Wednesdays, with two trips; the first departs at 1:00 PM and arrives at 5:00 PM, and the second departs at 3:00 PM and arrives at 7:00 PM.

As for the second route, it includes the "Tafilah – Ain Al-Basha" line, with a length of 198 km and a set fare of 4 Jordanian Dinars per passenger, with the assembly and departure point in the Ain Al-Basha District, after Al-Robi Hall opposite the Bab Amman gas station junction.

Outbound trips from Ain Al-Basha to Tafilah will take place on Saturdays, with two trips; the first departs at 1:00 PM and arrives at 5:00 PM, while the second departs at 3:00 PM and arrives at 7:00 PM. Return trips from Tafilah to Ain Al-Basha will be on Wednesdays, with two trips; the first departs at 1:00 PM and arrives at 5:00 PM, and the second departs at 3:00 PM and arrives at 7:00 PM.

The Commission confirmed that the buses designated for operating the two new routes are equipped with smart transport systems and modern technology, which enhances operational efficiency and provides a safe and comfortable transport service for passengers. These systems include live electronic bus tracking, electronic payment, and free Wi-Fi service inside the buses, contributing to improving the passenger experience and enhancing service regularity.

This step comes within the Commission's directives to expand regular public transport services between governorates, develop smart transport services, and enhance accessibility to public transport means, in a way that meets the needs of citizens and students and supports a more efficient and sustainable public transport system.
