"Kia PV5" is the best compact car in Germany for 2027

Khaberni - The "Kia PV5" has won the title of "Best Compact Car in Germany for 2027" at the German Car of the Year (GCOTY) awards, qualifying it for the final round of the overall competition, with the winner set to be announced at the end of October.

This recognition reflects the appreciation of German automotive experts for the design and practical innovation of the electric vehicle, which represents Kia's first fully dedicated model in the Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) category, aimed at meeting the needs of both personal and commercial use.

The "Kia PV5" is based on the modular electric E-GMP.S platform, which allows for the development of multiple configurations from a shared architecture, while leveraging interior space and providing greater flexibility in vehicle outfitting.

The vehicle is available in versions dedicated to passenger and cargo transport, in addition to a chassis cab version that allows for conversions and equipment tailored to various business requirements. These options target individuals, companies, and fleet operators by combining electric mobility with practical design and connected technologies.

Sangdae Kim, Executive Vice President and Head of Kia's PBV Division, stated that the award is particularly significant because the vehicle was developed based on actual customer needs, noting that it combines the flexibility of engineering architecture with connected technologies and growing services to support productivity and provide practical solutions for individuals and businesses.

The "German Car of the Year" awards are independent accolades in the German automotive sector, with 36 journalists, experts, and automotive content creators participating in the evaluation of the models.

The competition included over 70 new models launched in the market, with evaluations covering design, technology, practicality, and daily usability.

Jens Meiners, founder of the award, said that the "Kia PV5" combines practicality with excellence in design, making it one of the most remarkable models in the market.

With this achievement, the PV5 becomes the third electric vehicle from Kia to win a category in the awards, following the "EV6," which won the title of Best Premium Car in Germany for 2022, and the "EV9," which won the title of Best Large Premium Car in Germany for 2024.

The PV5 will compete in the final round against the winners of other categories for the overall title of 2027.

The PV5 was designed to meet electric mobility requirements while providing a flexible interior and the ability to adapt the vehicle to the nature of its use. The passenger version prioritizes comfort, space, and seat arrangement flexibility, while the cargo and chassis cab versions focus on load transport and providing wider options for commercial equipment.

Depending on the model and specifications, the driving range reaches up to 416 kilometers, while charging the battery from 10% to 80% takes about 30 minutes using DC fast charging.

The vehicle integrates with "Kia Connect" and "Kia | PLEOS Fleet" services, which support vehicle management, charging, route planning, maintenance, and diagnostics, helping companies and fleet operators improve operational efficiency.

The launch of the PV5 represents a step in Kia's strategy to develop a comprehensive range of PBVs that combine flexibility in vehicle design, connected digital services, and customized equipment.

The company plans to launch the PV7 model in 2027, followed by the PV9 in 2029, as part of expanding its options in the multi-purpose electric vehicle market.

In addition to its recognition in Germany, the PV5 has achieved a series of awards and honors in 2026 and in other international competitions, including:

These awards reinforce the presence of the PV5 in the electric vehicle sector, both for personal and commercial use, while Kia awaits the final result of the competition for the title of Best Car in Germany for 2027.
