Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs and Holy Sites, Mohammad Al-Khalaile, warned of the extreme danger and unprecedented escalation witnessed in the occupied Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif, coinciding with the Jewish holidays, affirming that what is happening is a systematic attempt to impose a new and dangerous reality within the Mosque's courtyards.
Al-Khalaile said that the violations have reached unprecedented levels of provocation, led by senior rabbis and Israeli officials who are leading successive mass incursions into the Al-Aqsa Mosque courtyards, under official political and religious cover, in an attempt to Judaize the Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif.
He pointed out that the reports and field data issued by the Jerusalem Awqaf Directorate showed the imposition of a strict siege on the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and direct restrictions on the entry of worshipers and guards and preventing them from reaching, in contrast to facilitating the incursions of hundreds of settlers, rabbis, and extremists.
He added that the violations were not limited to the incursions, but went beyond them to performing Talmudic rituals and rites inside the Al-Haram Al-Sharif, under the direct protection of the occupation police.
Al-Khalaile warned that exploiting Jewish holidays as a cover for plans for temporal and spatial division, and the continued targeting of the Awqaf Directorate cadres and guards with deportation and assault, is a blatant and explicit attack on the historical and legal status quo.
He affirmed the steadfast Jordanian position in confronting these excesses and warning of their catastrophic consequences for the entire region, stressing the continuation of upholding the historical and religious responsibility incumbent upon the Hashemite custodianship in protecting the Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif in its entirety, which covers 144 dunams, and defending its pure Islamic identity.
