Jordan has condemned the storming of the Al-Aqsa Mosque/Temple Mount by Israeli extremist Minister Itamar Ben Gvir and groups of radical settlers under the protection of the Israeli occupation police; a flagrant breach of international law and international humanitarian law, an unacceptable escalation, an unacceptable provocation, a blatant violation of the historical and legal status quo in the Jerusalem Holy Site, and a desecration of its sanctity.
The official spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ambassador Fuad Al-Mufleh, affirmed the Kingdom's absolute rejection and strong condemnation of the continued unacceptable incursions by extremist ministers, officials, and settlers and their provocative practices, and the Israeli occupation police facilitating these repeated incursions into the Al-Aqsa Mosque/Temple Mount; considering them a flagrant breach of international law and international humanitarian law, and an unacceptable absurd act aimed at imposing new facts in the Al-Aqsa Mosque/Temple Mount, by attempting to divide it temporally and spatially.
He warned of the consequences of the continuation of these violations and provocative practices, emphasizing that Israel has no sovereignty over the occupied city of Jerusalem and its Islamic and Christian holy sites.
Al-Mufleh called on the international community to take a firm international stance that obliges Israel, as the occupying power, to stop its violations and illegal practices towards the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, and to stop all measures that restrict access of worshipers to the Al-Aqsa Mosque/Temple Mount.
Al-Mufleh reiterated that the Al-Aqsa Mosque, with its entire area of 144 dunams, is a place of pure worship for Muslims, and that the Jerusalem Endowments and Al-Aqsa Affairs Administration, affiliated with the Jordanian Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, is the sole legal entity responsible for managing all affairs of the Al-Aqsa Mosque/Temple Mount and regulating access to it.
