Jordan on Ben Gvir's storming of Al-Aqsa: Desecration of its sanctity and condemned escalation and unacceptable provocation

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates condemned the storming of the Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif by the Israeli extremist minister Itamar Ben Gvir and groups of extremist settlers under the protection of the occupation police; a flagrant violation of the historical and legal status in Al-Haram Al-Sharif, desecration of its sanctity, a condemned escalation, and an unacceptable provocation.

The official spokesperson of the Ministry, Ambassador Fuad Al-Mujalli, affirmed the Kingdom's absolute rejection and strong condemnation of the continuation of the incursions rejected by ministers, officials, and extremist settlers and their provocative practices, and the facilitation of the Israeli occupation police of the continuous incursions into the Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif; considering it a blatant breach of international law and international humanitarian law, and an absurd and rejected behavior aimed at imposing new facts in the Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif, by attempting to divide it temporally and spatially.

He warned of the consequences of the continuation of these violations and provocative practices, emphasizing that Israel has no sovereignty over the occupied city of Jerusalem and its Islamic and Christian holy sites.

Al-Mujalli called on the international community to take a firm international stance that obliges Israel, as the occupying power, to stop its violations and illegal practices towards the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, and to stop all measures that restrict the access of worshipers to the Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif.

He reiterated that the Al-Aqsa Mosque, with its entire area of 144 dunams, is a place of pure worship for Muslims, and that the Jerusalem Endowments and Al-Aqsa Mosque Affairs Administration, affiliated with the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs and Jordanian Islamic Affairs, is the sole legal entity responsible for managing all affairs of the Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif and regulating entry into it.
