President Aoun said in his speech: "When we talk about the Red Cross, we are not just talking about a humanitarian institution. We are talking about an image known to every Lebanese: an ambulance making its way through the danger, a paramedic who arrives when others cannot, and a volunteer who leaves his home and family, not to ask who is injured, but to ask one question: how can I save this person? This is dedication in its highest meaning"
The President of the Jordanian Red Crescent Society, Dr. Muhammad Al-Hadid, said: "Today, in Beirut, our responsibility is not just to review the Amman Declaration, but to ask: what has changed? Where have we made a difference? And where should we perform better? We have made progress, especially in the areas of preparedness, locally led response, and coordination within the movement"
He stressed that "strengthening institutions and accountability still require continuous attention. However, localizing humanitarian work must mean leadership, not just implementation. National societies should contribute to shaping priorities, influencing decisions, and ensuring that resources are directed to meet the needs of communities"
Several leaders of the societies also delivered speeches on the themes, objectives, and mechanisms for developing the work of their societies.
The 12th Regional Conference of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies in the Middle East and North Africa is held periodically to bring together leaders of national Red Cross and Red Crescent societies from various parts of the Middle East and North Africa, alongside components of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement and regional partners, in order to review humanitarian needs in the region and agree on common priorities and commitments.
